Three crewmembers sustained injuries after an explosion in the engine room onboard the containership MSC Rachele off the coast of France on June 21.

The explosion took place while the vessel was about 20 nautical miles south of Cape Cépet, enroute from Napoli, Italy to the port of Fos-sur-Mer.

The French Navy medevaced the three injured crewmembers for immediate medical treatment aboard the amphibious assault helicopter carrier Tonnerre.

Fire broke out onboard the passenger ro-ro ship Andros Queen as it was undergoing repairs at Perama Ship Repair Yard, Piraeus.

According to information, the passenger suffered fire in the morning of June 21 at Perama Ship Repair Yard, Piraeus, in aft area, probably in engine room.

During the period 14-20 Jun 22, one CAT 41 incident of armed robbery against ships in Asia.

The incident occurred on 20 Jun 22, on board a bulk carrier while underway at approximately 7.3 nm northwest of Tanjung Pergam, Bintan Island (Indonesia), in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the Singapore Strait.

In the incident, the ship’s crew sighted two unauthorised persons in the steering gear room. The ship alarm was raised and crew mustered. A search on board the ship was conducted, with no further sighting of the perpetrators. Nothing was stolen. All crew members were accounted for with no report of injuries.

Ten armed men have reportedly carried out a heist in the Gulf of Mexico, stealing equipment, tools, materials and other items from a Campeche Bay oil platform, that is owned by Pemex.

According to information, the armed group arrived in three vessels, forcing the hostages, including employees of Pemex and its contractor Evya, to load them with various goods they stole from the site.

The navy’s maritime traffic control center was notified of the crime about 20 minutes after the heist had ended, and luckily there were no reports of injuries.
