On July 12th, an explosion and ensuing fire were reported on the oil tanker Ratu Yamani near Kalimantan, Indonesia.
An incident in which, crew were using the vessel crane to move a pallet of cylinders (part of the vessel’s hydraulic system) from one deck to another, with a vessel alongside, to provide lessons learned.
Indonesia’s coast guard seized an Iranian-flagged very large crude carrier (VLCC) suspected of involvement in the illegal transshipment of crude oil.
No incident of armed robbery against ships in Asia, between 4 – 10 July.
Area of concern
The continue exercise enhanced vigilance when transiting areas of concern, including the Singapore Strait and the Sulu-Celebes Seas; and littoral States to increase patrols and enforcement in these areas.
