A recent Safety Flash by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), focuses on an incident, in which a crew member observed a piece of metal debris lying under the crane boom tip, during a vessel transit during which the crane was unused in its boom rest.
Over the past week, no incident of piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia between 8th – 13rd November 2023.
Since January 2023, a total of 92 incidents comprising 91 actual incidents and one attempted incident of armed robbery against ships were reported to the Centre.

About 1530 local time, a fire started on the bridge of the oil tanker S-Trust while the vessel was docked at the Genesis Port Allen Terminal in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Fire teams from the vessel’s crew extinguished the fire about 1550. There were no injuries, and no pollution was reported. The damage to the vessel was estimated at $3 million.
