A multiple VHF radio challenges to vessels in the northern Arabian Gulf, potentially linked to an Iranian military exercise.

The challenges included demands for ships to alter their course, particularly near Iranian waters. This activity coincides with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducting naval operations in the Strait of Hormuz as part of their “Great Prophet 19”

On 4 February, a general cargo vessel, HAV NORDIC, ran aground off Bergsoya Island, Norway sustaining damage.

The cargo vessel is reported to have sustained rudder damage and experienced water ingress into the ballast tanks. In addition, the ship developed a port-side list.

A nearby vessel remained on standby at the scene until the rescue boat arrived to assist. Later that day, the vessel was successfully refloated with the help of a rescue boat and was towed it to Mjolstadneset, Norway.
