The Philippine Coast Guard intercepted five unauthorized individuals who attempted to illegally board the RORO vessel M/V Super Shuttle RORO 9 in the waters off Bauan, Batangas, on the night of January 3, 2026.
The incident occurred during a seaborne patrol operation conducted at around 10:00 p.m., following a report of an alleged theft involving an anchored vessel in the area. Nearly two hours later, at approximately 11:50 p.m., coast guard personnel intercepted a motorbanca attempting to approach and board the RORO vessel.
One suspect was apprehended onboard the motorbanca, where authorities recovered several cables believed to be intended for use in illegal activities. Initial investigation suggested that additional accomplices had already boarded the vessel.
In response, the PCG deployed additional maritime law enforcement personnel to secure the area and establish perimeter patrols. A thorough search of M/V Super Shuttle RORO 9 led to the arrest of four more individuals onboard the vessel.
All five suspects were taken to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Bauan for proper documentation and medical examination.
As of January 4, 2026, the Philippine Coast Guard is preparing the appropriate charges for filing against the respondents.
