Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack on Russia on August 24, targeting multiple regions including Russia’s Ust-Luga fuel export terminal.
According to Reuters, Russian officials reported that at least 95 drones were intercepted across multiple regions. A major strike hit Russia’s Ust-Luga fuel export terminal on the Gulf of Finland, where drone debris caused a fire at the Novatek-operated complex, one of the country’s largest Baltic fuel hubs.
One of the most serious incidents occurred at the Kursk nuclear power plant, just 60 km from the Ukrainian border, where a drone strike damaged an auxiliary transformer and forced a 50% reduction in output from reactor No. 3.
The plant confirmed radiation levels remained normal and no injuries occurred, though the International Atomic Energy Agency reiterated that nuclear facilities must be safeguarded from military action.
To remind, a few days prior, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone assault on the Izmail district in Odesa Oblast during the night of 19–20 August, targeting critical fuel and port infrastructure.
