To all shipowners, P&I Clubs, charterers, and shipping agents in the maritime and shipping industry about the current security situation affecting Port Sudan and surrounding areas.
Earlier this morning, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia launched attacks on several civilian areas in Port Sudan, leading to temporary disruptions in both air and maritime logistics.
Key updates are as follows:
- Port operations in southern Port Sudan, where the container terminal is located, were impacted.
- The northern terminal and the Green Zone, which handle dry bulk cargo such as sugar and grain, also experienced temporary disruptions.
- These events occurred in the Red-Sea district, which hosts all three operational areas of the port.
- Despite the disturbance, local authorities have regained control of the situation, and port operations are resuming under reinforced security.
- A bulk carrier loaded with a significant shipment of wheat successfully berthed and discharged cargo today at the Green Zone terminal.
While operations are stabilizing, we urge all maritime partners to:
- Coordinate closely with local agents regarding vessel movements.
- Anticipate potential delays in berthing, discharging, and cargo handling.
- Remain updated through official channels and port correspondents.
