On 18 October, Yemen’s Houthi militants announced that they targeted a Malta-flagged container ship named Megalopolis in the Arabian Sea using drones, although they did not specify when the attack occurred.

According to Reuters, the ship is reportedly on its way to Salalah port in Oman, based on LSEG data. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree stated that the attack was a response to the vessel’s alleged violation of the group’s ban on entering ports of “occupied Palestine.

However, maritime agencies have not confirmed any incidents involving the Megalopolis. The Houthis have carried out nearly 100 attacks on ships in the Red Sea since November, claiming these actions are in solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Their operations have included sinking two vesselsseizing one, and resulting in the deaths of seafarers
