Civil unrest in Haiti is impacting port operations across the country.
On 26 September 2024, a crane operator was shot several times while attending to the operations of MV Belen (Antillean Marine shipping line) at the APN port at Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The crane operator was sent to the hospital and the ship left without unloading. As a result, the APN terminal, operated by CPS, is completely shut down. We were also advised that operations at that pier will be resume on 30th September 2024.
Note that there are six (6) sea terminals working in PAP trying to absorb the overflow of traffic. They are: Terminal Varreux, Port Lafito, TVB Port-au-Prince Terminal, Terminal Abraham, Global Marine SA, and Thor Terminal.
Terminal Varreux has continued receiving tankers and breakbulk ships; remains ready to receive any container ships as well.
