An oil tanker flying the flag of Comoros capsized off Oman on 15th July. The MSC stated that efforts are ongoing to search for the 16 missing crew members.
The Maritime Security Centre (MSC) of Oman, operated under the Omani defence ministry, did not specify the reason for the tanker capsizing.
On social media, it reported that a Comoros-flagged oil tanker overturned 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah, near Duqm, on Monday.
It noted that search and rescue efforts had commenced with the appropriate authorities but did not provide further details. In a subsequent statement on Tuesday, the MSC named the vessel as the Prestige Falcon, confirming it carried 16 crew members — 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans.
It stated that the crew remained missing as the search operation continued. The tanker was en route to the Yemeni port of Aden.
