The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully rescued 71 passengers from the MV Reina Hosanna, a passenger vessel that experienced engine failure near Capul, Northern Samar.

The incident occurred between 8 to 9 p.m. on Sunday February 11, when the vessel faced difficulties in the waters off Capul. MV Reina Immaculada attempted to tow MV Reina Hosanna, which was en route from Matnog, Sorsogon to Allen, Northern Samar. However, the towing operation failed as the mooring line tore.

As a result of the strong current, MV Reina Hosanna ran aground along the shoreline of Barangay 1. Subsequently, a collaborative rescue operation was carried out by personnel from the Coast Guard Sub-Station Capul, the municipal government, and the local disaster office to ensure the safety of the passengers on board.

The successful rescue efforts resulted in all 71 passengers being safely evacuated from the stranded vessel.
