On 2nd July, two handysize bulk carriers collided, while transiting the Parana River, in Argentina.
In particular, the collision involved the 29,100 dwt Argentina-flagged Argenmar Mistral and the 35,500 dwt Panama-flagged ES Vanquish at kilometre 313 in the middle of the navigation channel in Ramallo.
The Argenmar-owned 170-m-long bulker was proceeding upstream on its way from Bahía Blanca to San Lorenzo, carrying 7,500 tons of granular urea, while the Toyo Kaiun-owned 177-m-long ES Vanquish was heading from San Lorenzo with 30,000 tons of corn bound for Peru.
Luckily, no injuries were reported, but both ships are said to have sustained damage above and below waterline.
