Airstrikes have been carried out in al Zawiya and at the fishing port of al-Maya, which is located 30 kilometres east of al Zawiya.

The details are unknown; however, reports say that three workers were killed. According to early statements, Turkish-made drones were utilized in the attack, which was carried out by Libyan Army soldiers loyal to the GNU.

Sectarian violence in Eastern Libya has risen in recent weeks as a result of inter-militia conflicts and clashes with state security officers. This has resulted in a series of airstrikes in the al Zawiya region over the last three days.

According to early indications, the strikes are intended at illicit fuel smuggling networks operating along the coast.

Footage from the incident appears to show a vessel being struck while docked at the al-Maya port, 30 kilometres east of al Zawiya. While details are still unclear, the risk level for commercial vessels calling at al Zawiya is considered critical in the short term.
