Pirates boarded the 13,700-dwt goods carrier Monjasa Reformer on Saturday night 260 kilometers off the coast of Pointe Noir, Republic of the Congo.
According to the Maritime Domain Awareness for Trade – Gulf of Guinea corporation center, the vessel has been boarded by 5 armed persons who approached the vessel from a skiff. The Liberia-flag vessel is owned by Denmark’s Monjasa and managed by Montec Ship Management.
The crew of the ship notified Montec Ship Management that pirates had boarded the ship. The crew members are currently in the citadel and the incident is ongoing.
Montec Ship Management, is attempting to contact the ship by coordinating with all relevant maritime authorities in the area. The latest report by the Maritime Domain Awareness for Trade – Gulf of Guinea corporation center states that the vessel remains unlocated and ships within the vicinity are requested to report any sighting of the vessel or suspicious activity.
