A massive fire broke out at a tank at the Matanzas petroleum complex, Cuba, on August 5, killing at least one person and leaving 17 missing.
The fire broke out when lightning hit a tank at the Matanzas Supertanker Base, a fuel import terminal some 50 miles to the east of Havana. Firefighting teams rushed to the scene and began the firefighting effort.
However, the fire spread to a nearby tank the next day, causing an explosion. 17 firefighters who were in the area at the time of the incident are missing, while and 121 are injured. One unidentified body has also been located.
